How to Defeat the Elder Guardians[edit | edit source]

The Guardians can be found in the Ocean Monument, randomly appearing in oceans across the world. Players will need Water Breathing potions to navigate the monument, and Night Vision potions, Speed potions and/or the Depth Strider enchantment are also recommended. Once inside there are 3 Elder Guardians mixed in with the regular Guardians who will give you Mining Fatigue as long as you're there and they're alive. This makes it virtually impossible to break any blocks inside the monument until the Elder Guardians are dealt with. Elder Guardians are just stronger versions of normal Guardians who swim around and fire lasers at you. This laser will be stopped if you either block their line of sight, get really far away, or really close to them. If their spikes are sticking out of their body they will return damage back to you when you hit them. The best strategy is to stay close and wait for their spikes to retract before hitting them with as many powerful blows as you can. It is also recommended to take on only one at a time in a small enclosed space if possible. Once you defeat all 3 Elder Guardians, the Mining Fatigue will eventually wear off, and you can break all the blocks inside the monument, including a box in the middle containing 8 gold blocks.
