Summoning Diablo (in Diablo II)[edit | edit source]

In order to summon Diablo, all five seals in Hell must be opened to unlock the Chaos Sanctuary, the area where Diablo resides. Be wary, as three of these five seals will spawn a unique boss along with a pack of minions, all of which must be defeated to continue. Once all five seals are open and the enemies spawned by them are defeated, the Chaos Sanctuary will become accessible to the remaining players, allowing them to fight Diablo.

Diablo's Attacks (in Diablo II)[edit | edit source]

  • Bone Prison: If a town portal is summoned too close to Diablo, he will use this attack to temporarily trap players returning from the town.
  • Charge: Serves as a way for Diablo to sprint forward quickly. This attack does not deal any damage or cause any effect on the player.
  • Cold Touch: A melee attack that freezes the player.
  • Firestorm: Projects waves of molten earth that spread outward and cover a large area in the direction they are fired in, damaging the player.
  • Fire Nova (aka Flame Circle): Releases an expanding ring of fire that can engulf several screens, damaging the player.
  • Fire Wall: Creates a wall of fire that damages the player.
  • Red Lightning Hose (aka Lightning Inferno): Diablo's deadliest attack. Expels a far-reaching stream of flame that greatly damages the player. Players with inadequate resists and below average gear will be killed within seconds.
  • NOTE: Because most of Diablo's attacks are fire-based, having high fire resistance would be a huge help in enduring Diablo's attacks.

Defeating Diablo (in Diablo II)[edit | edit source]

Diablo requires a player to be very mobile, so be sure to always be on the move in order to better avoid his attacks during the fight. Another ability that'll supply great amounts of help during the fight is setting up town portals throughout the boss arena, as they can provide as a quick retreat for players on low health trying to get away from Diablo's attacks. Upon defeating Diablo, he'll drop a handful of rare loot as a reward for the player. However, if the player does not have the expansion pack installed, the game will end after 90 seconds following Diablo's death. In the Lord of Destruction expansion, this does not happen, and the player is provided with Act V, an entirely new act to play through.
