When writing the section on Game Modifications, there should be a focus on how the player is affected. Take this for example

* '''Positional Audio:''' Each participant can only talk to and hear others in which they are close to.

Instead of talking about Mumble or Voice Chat Mod, it describes the parts important to the player and doesn't focus on stuff behind the scenes. Another good example here states what information is needed to understand the twist.

* '''Reduced Knowledge:''' Each participant is prohibited from viewing the chat or the server list. This limits knowledge of deaths and achievements to only what the person has experienced, seen or heard about.

For more specific modifications, you may want to break down the effects as seen here:

* '''Modified World Generation:''' The world now generates new biomes in both the Overworld and Nether, as well as new structures and blocks in both.
** '''"Biome Bundle" Modification:''' This modification adds over 400 new biomes with 2,000 new structures, adding a lot of variety to the feel of the world.
** '''"NetherEX" Modification:''' This modification add four new biomes to the Nether along with new structures.
* '''Modified Creatures:''' Creatures become smarter and harder for the players to defeat.
** '''Camoflaged Creepers:''' Creepers now mimick the texture of the block they are standing on.
** '''Improved Intelligence:''' All creatures have improved intellligence and are now harder to kill. Zombies, Skeletons and Spiders may also have special abilities.
* '''Additonal Creatures:''' The Nether is now full of new creatues including ones that are passive, neutral and hostile. There is also a new boss in the Nether called the Ghast Queen.
** '''Ghast Queen Boss:''' The Ghast Queen is a boss in the nether spawned by [idk].

Here are some examples on how to write descriptions for other custom rules or commands:

* '''"Paranoia Health" Twist:''' Each participant is given 100 health points (50 hearts) in which they cannot regenerate or view. Participants are also prohibited from crafting regenration items but are allowed to use ones found or given, such as Golden Apples.

* '''"Colorcore" Twist''': Each participant is made to wear a full set of unbreakable Leather Armor with the Curse of Binding enchantment. This gives the player only 7/20 armor points. Their Leather Armor is also one of ten assigned colors.

The Manual of Style (abbreviated as MoS or MOS) is a style guide for all Hardcore Wiki articles. It is aimed to help editors to write consistently, clearly, and precisely-written articles. The MoS also discusses layout, and formatting.

National Varities of English

As the original hardcore series is from the United States of America, this wiki generally uses American English, and as a result uses the Template:Wp which is fairly common in American English.

Capitalization

The following should be capitalized:

  • Names
  • Twists
  • Mobs
  • Enchantments
  • Notable Items
  • Dimensions

Names of Files

Portraits

[Name][Status][Group, and if N/A, first HC][Version Number].png

Episode Thumbnails

Page Titles

Series

  • Series usually should be referred to in italics and named the same way its creator(s) named it.
    • The Series should instead be "_____'s Hardcore Series", where the underscores are replaced by the Host's wiki page name, if the Series is unnamed or is named as belonging to someone.
      • If the Host of a Series changes their name for reasons unrelated to a Series' identity, all mentions of the Series should be updated to reflect said name change.
      • If the Series coincidentally shares the same name as another entity, the phrase "(Series)" shall be added to the end and a disambiguation page made.
    • If the Host is the sole Host of multiple Series, they will all instead redirect to "_____'s Hardcore Series", where the underscores are replaced by the Host's wiki page name.

Seasons

  • Seasons usually should be referred to in italics and named the same way its creator(s) name it.
    • The page title of a Season should always begin with the name of the Series it's a part of followed by a forward slash. (/)
      • The name of the Series should match that of its wiki page title unless it is one of multiple Series hosted by the same person, in which it will instead have the name of that individual Series.
    • If a Series has multiple Seasons of the same title, those Seasons should instead be labeled "[Season Name] [#]".
      • The numbering of a Season is based on how many past Seasons within that Series were also of that label.

People

  • In all circumstances but Page title, the name used for someone should be the most recent name commonly used for them in intros.
    • For Page titles, refer to their Username instead.

Game Modifications Wording

When writing the section on Game Modifications, there should be a focus on how the player is affected. Take this for example

  • Positional Audio: Each participant can only talk to and hear others in which they are close to.

Instead of talking about Mumble or Voice Chat Mod, it describes the parts important to the player and doesn't focus on stuff behind the scenes. Another good example here states what information is needed to understand the twist.

  • Reduced Knowledge: Each participant is prohibited from viewing the chat or the server list. This limits knowledge of deaths and achievements to only what the person has experienced, seen or heard about.

For more specific modifications, you may want to break down the effects as seen here:

  • Modified World Generation: The world now generates new biomes in both the Overworld and Nether, as well as new structures and blocks in both.
    • "Biome Bundle" Modification: This modification adds over 400 new biomes with 2,000 new structures, adding a lot of variety to the feel of the world.
    • "NetherEX" Modification: This modification add four new biomes to the Nether along with new structures.
  • Modified Creatures: Creatures become smarter and harder for the players to defeat.
    • Camoflaged Creepers: Creepers now mimick the texture of the block they are standing on.
    • Improved Intelligence: All creatures have improved intellligence and are now harder to kill. Zombies, Skeletons and Spiders may also have special abilities.
  • Additonal Creatures: The Nether is now full of new creatues including ones that are passive, neutral and hostile. There is also a new boss in the Nether called the Ghast Queen.
    • Ghast Queen Boss: The Ghast Queen is a boss in the nether spawned by [idk].

Here are some examples on how to write descriptions for other custom rules or commands:

  • "Paranoia Health" Twist: Each participant is given 100 health points (50 hearts) in which they cannot regenerate or view. Participants are also prohibited from crafting regenration items but are allowed to use ones found or given, such as Golden Apples.
  • "Colorcore" Twist: Each participant is made to wear a full set of unbreakable Leather Armor with the Curse of Binding enchantment. This gives the player only 7/20 armor points. Their Leather Armor is also one of ten assigned colors.
